We’ve picked three of the best British counties that offer the ideal escape for you and your little ones. Read on for an insight into these family holiday favourites.

One of the UK’s most exciting tourist spots, Cornwall has to be on your family’s bucket list. Snugly located on the South West, it plays host to an exciting mix of beach, nature, culture, and sites.

For beach fun, you will truly be spoilt for choice. The beaches in Cornwall are world renown for their stunning views and sandy fronts. Which family doesn’t enjoy the opportunity to indulge in sun and sand and an opportunity to try out water sports. For those who absolutely have to bring their dog along, find out in advance whether pets are allowed along with you.

After your beach experience, choose from a variety of accommodation options available. You can choose to stay at a self-catering cottage at the beach, perfect for the family that loves its privacy. Alternatively, you can enjoy local hospitality at a BnB, letting your hosts spoil you with tasty breakfasts, or sample one of the many boutique hotels that are littered throughout the region.

Additionally, few places in the UK possess such gastronomic adventure as the Cornwall. Cornish dishes are a must try for any tourist. You have the opportunity to try out authentic Cornish pastry with some real Cornish Cream Tea.

Head out to the St. Ives for a cultural immersion, visit numerous castles and museums for a trip down history, head to the Eden Project for futuristic nature, or one of the many maritime sanctuaries and aquariums for a sea experience.

After prepping your children with stories about Vikings, head out to Yorkshire for the real sites and sounds of a different time. You have to try out the Jorvik Viking Centre, a stunning collection of well preserved Viking culture. After heading out, head to the National Railway Museum and the Royal Armouries Museum, very appealing destinations if you have boys and/or teens. You can go for a shopping spree with the girls at the Salt’s Mill later, just to keep things balanced.

There are numerous other sites to see, ranging from gardens, grand castles and churches, delightful parks, exciting theme parks, and plenty of natural sites such as Brimham Rocks.

If your family is a bit older, why not try out a local brewery such as the Black Sheep Brewery located in Masham, or the Theakstons Brewery, also in the same area. Or treat your young ones (and the Mrs!) to some chocolate goodness over at the Little Chocolate Shop Chocolatiers over in Leyburn where they can watch how it all is done.

With a variety of boutique hotels, farmhouse accommodation, BnBs, and even cottages, you can be sure of getting cozy spots for your family to put up whatever your budget.

Devon is one of those areas that seems to have it all: from tasteful natural scenery, seaside adventures, cultural icons, to gastronomic indulgences.

Start off at Plymouth, undoubtedly a family favourite tourist spot. The cultural heart of Devon, this area is teeming with exciting activities for family fun. Or you can head out into the country side areas of the Greater Darmoon area, home to the National Park of Dartmoor. Perfect for the adventurous family, head out for trekking, camping, and other outdoor fun activities as you get away from the hustle of modernity.

If you are absolutely addicted to the romance of the coastline, the English Riviera is your drug of choice. Restaurants abound for exciting sea food delicacies, or you can try out your own hand at the Elephant Restaurant and enjoy your own cooked meal! Head over to the north of Devon for exciting beach activities that will occupy your whole family.
