Scroll through a year in wanderlust photography to see some of our favourite moments from 2012.

Our house sitting assignment in British Colombia gave us the opportunity to head out on a Trans-Canadian road trip to Banff and Jasper National Park. Resting overnight in the town of Golden we set out in time to catch sunrise over Lake Louise.

Leaving Canada by bus we crossed the border with the USA and made our way to Seattle.

On arrival we were dropped outside the FMP Museum where Ben captured this artistic shot of the building. Spending just a week exploring the city we then flew to Syndey Australia via a week long layover in Hawaii.

Our Australian adventure began with a month house sitting on Sydney’s north shore.

During our stay we were invited to join the crew of a yacht racing in the weekly Twilight Series on Sydney Harbour. Fortunately we enjoyed some glorious weather and watched the sun setting over the city skyline while racing down wind towards the last buoy.

Having purchased Winifred our 1995 Winnebago we drove south towards Melbourne and attended the Australian Grand Prix.

Our journey continued along The Great Ocean Road where we were incredibly fortunate to see some wild Koalas just hanging around on the way to our campsite on Johanna Beach.

After exploring the peninsulas of Southern Australia we travelled 1100km across the Nullarbor Plain. A quintessential Aussie outback experience. Sat by the campfire eating our toasted sandwiches we caught this great shot of the Milky Way.

Camping on secluded Quaggi Beach we were treated to a once in a lifetime animal encounter.

While running along the beach just after sunrise we spotted a pod of around 40 wild dolphins. Grabbing our snorkelling gear we jumped into the water to get a closer look. We spent a couple of hours playing in the waves before Charli grabbed the camera in time to capture this shot of Ben with the pod.

Another house sitting assignment this time on the NSW coast. Travelling back from Western Australia we took up residence looking after two dogs and managing a macadamia farm in the owners absence. We made the most of our time in the area exploring some of the local national parks.

Driving north up the east coast we stopped off in Brisbane to watch an AFL match at The Gabba. Unfortunately Brisbane’s form was poor and they were beaten by rivals Richmond in the 2nd half.

Driving north to Darwin we picked up a fellow Brit and explored the arid plains of the Northern Territory. Visiting Kakadu National Park, Katherine Gorge and sailing across the top of the country over the Arafura Sea were highlights of this action packed month.

Flying into Auckland at the beginning of the month we started our Kiwi adventure with a house and dog sitting assignment in one of the western suburbs. With a house in which to relax over Christmas we spent our days by the beach and exploring the local national parks with Spencer the dog.

2012 saw us traverse much of the Australian coastline and we are grateful to have had so much time to explore. Driving over 25,000km we were able to experience much of the country’s diverse landscapes.

Looking back at our favourite moments it is hard to believe just how many incredible experiences Australia provided.

Beautiful collection of photos. The one of the Nemo clown fish in the anneminy is especially brilliant, as is the dog shaking off water into a rainbow and that insane Milky Way shot. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Thanks Greg. We’ve had an incredible year so it was tough to choose our favourite images. Lovely to receive such high praise. It makes all the hard work and effort of carrying equipment worth while!

Wow! Your travels really pull on my heart strings as I am from Canada and now living in Perth, Western Australia. I have experienced some of the wonder you have captured here.

Thank you for sharing this, it has sparked a longing in me to do more travel…it is so easy to get content when you live in paradise…

Can I ask how you find the house sitting assignments? Might be something for me to look into…travel around…writing…exploring…

    Thanks for this great post.

    To your happiness & harmony,
