Every traveller will have beach destinations on their itinerary.
Whether they like rolling around in the sand, swimming in the sea, or just looking out at the horizon with a cocktail in hand, there are some absolutely stunning beach locations to suit.
Below are 12 of my personal favourites which have all stood out amongst the rest…
EL CASTILLO, MEXICO
Mexico is a Mecca for beach holiday travellers thanks to its numerous beaches, but the El Castillo stands out for its towering limestone cliffs, lush palm trees, pale silvery sands, and its location close to the ruins of El Castillo.
RAINBOW BEACH, QUEENSLAND
As the name suggests, expect nothing else but a mixture of vibrant colours on this fantastic beach. Queensland maybe famous for its beaches but Rainbow beach offers a feast for the eyes with its varied hues of browns, blacks, reds and yellows as a result of the minerals in the sand.
It was my favourite stretch of sand in Australia.
KAMARES BEACH, SIFNOS
Sifnos is part of the famous Cyclades island complex of the Aegean. It is a rather small island but very characteristic with its white washed houses and remote little churches of typical Cycladic architecture.
Consider going to the little island of Sifnos on your next trip and enjoy some authentic greek luxury holidays.
Sifnos is not as famous as Mykonos or Santorini but it has its own character and can offer you limitless opportunities: swimming in soft sandy beaches and beautiful waters or hiking in ancient paths from one village to the other.
LOPES MENDES, BRAZIL
Lopes Mendes is one of the most deserted beaches in Brazil, and offer two miles of unspoilt bliss and powdery white sands lapped by crystalline clear waters on the Island of Ilha Grande.
Just don’t get blown away…
BOULDERS BEACH, CAPE TOWN
This is not your usual beach with just sand and lazing people, but a famous beach for the ever increasing numbers of the endangered African penguins. On this beach you will share your space with colonies of the penguins.
MANDREM BEACH, GOA
Goa is a popular beach destination and has numerous fine sandy beaches but it you are looking for a secluded unspoilt experience, then Mandrem beach is the perfect choice (Thanks to Evie at Greaves India for this tip initially!).
EL NIDO, PHILIPPINES
El Nido on Palawan Island offers an endless variety of some of the finest white sandy beaches in the world. They are over 50 beaches and it is hard just to pick one out as the very best.
MOSQUITO BAY, PUERTO RICO
Mosquito Bay is famous for its natural lights created when dinoflagellates are disturbed therefore emitting a neon blue glow, it is best to hire a polycarbonate canoe for an unforgettable natural light show experience.
MANU BAY, NEW ZEALAND
Catch some of the best waves at Manu Bay surfers’ paradise in New Zealand. This black sandy beach offers some of the best surfing experiences in the world.
HALF MOON BEACH, JAMAICA
Half Moon Beach in Jamaica is one of the best beaches to relax on. It’s also rather less developed than most on the list with only a shack selling snacks and endless hammocks strung between palm trees; it is great for snorkelling too.
GLASS BEACH, HAWAII
When it comes to beach destinations, it’s hard not to mention Hawaii, and for good reason. This archipelago boasts some of the best beached in the world, and Glass Beach is one of them. Rightly so as it is famous for its glittering clear, blue and brown pebbles.
MAYA BAY, THAILAND
Thailand boasts numerous stunning beaches, however Maya Bay is one of its most notable. It is no wonder that it made a glorious backdrop for the cult movie The Beach.
